What year did you join the current practice/group?
I was in private practice for 17 years. I decided to sell my practice and join the Smile West team in January 2022.
Why do you enjoy the dental profession?
The dental profession has allowed me to have the flexibility of being a wife and mother for over 21 years. I have been able to give comprehensive dental care to many families and still be a middle school basketball coach and girl scout leader when my daughters were younger. I also love the technicality of dentistry and the different materials that are used to achieve a beautiful result.
What is your favorite part about interacting with patients?
I love meeting new people everyday. I love easing their dental fears and preconceived notions about the dentist. I love creating beautiful smiles and helping patients increase their self esteem.
Why do you like this practice and coming to work everyday?
I love coming to work everyday at the Redlands practice because it was the practice that I owned for 17 years. I love the team, they are like family. I know all the families and their children who have grown up here. I have been a part of this community for 20 years. My daughters went to elementary and middle school here and my church is up the street. My daughters are in high school and college now. I felt it was time for me to transition back into an Associate Dentist position at this phase of my life and I LOVE it! Smile West has given me the ability to change roles but continue to serve the community I have been serving here in Redlands for over 20 years. I am so blessed and thankful for that.
What do you like to do outside the office for fun or a hobby?
I enjoy riding my Peloton and walking around Redlands. I love attending concerts with my teenage daughters and watching college football with my husband. I recently have decided to start learning DIY projects for my house. Can’t wait to do my first demo! I also like snuggling with my dog, Peanut.
Where were you born?
I was born at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. My dad was in the Air Force up until I was in high school. I’ve lived in multiple states as well as countries like Germany and Turkey. I am proud to be a military brat, I love my country and have a soft spot in my heart for veterans.
Where were you raised?
I’ve lived in many places: Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Virginia, Germany, North Carolina, Turkey, Hawaii, and ultimately California. My family moved every 2-3 years while my dad was active duty in the United States Air Force. I attended high school in San Bernardino at St. Thomas Aquinas High School where I continue to be supportive as an alumnus.
Tell us about your family (significant others and children), what are you most proud of about them?
I met my husband, Michael, when I was 14 at Aquinas High School. We dated after we graduated for 8 years and married in my 3rd year of dental school. We have 3 daughters. Two are in high school and one is in college.
List your pets, their breeds and any quirky tricks
I have a 12-year-old Yorkie-poo named Peanut who we adopted when he was 5. He is spoiled because he is my only “son”. He loves soft blankets, walks in the morning IMMEDIATELY after my Peloton ride, and bacon. He plays fetch and has lots of toys. He also likes to hide his bones along with my socks in the side yard.
